Welder Fabricator - Division 8 Hollow Metal
Job Summary
The Hollow Metal Welder/Fabricator will work collaboratively with internal teams to fabricate and weld hollow metal doors, frames, and other related products. This role requires an individual who is detail-oriented, skilled in welding and metal fabrication. This person will use their expertise to ensure high-quality products that meet industry specifications. Responsibilities
- Fabricate and weld hollow metal doors, frames, and related products according to project specifications and Division 8 standards.
- Weld 16-gauge cold rolled steel and 14-gauge galvanized steel.
- Read and interpret work orders to determine appropriate welding and fabrication methods.
- Finish grind and paint products.
- Correctly use industry tools: saws, grinders, sanders, screw guns.
- Ensure all work meets the required safety standards and follows best practices in welding and metal fabrication.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other team members to ensure seamless workflow and project execution.
- Maintain welding equipment and tools, ensuring they are in good working condition.
- Conduct quality control checks on completed work to ensure adherence to specifications and standards.
- Maintain accurate records of production, inventory, and supplies used.
- Participate in training and development activities to stay current with industry standards and new technologies.
- Identify areas for process improvement and implement solutions to enhance productivity and quality.
- Check in items when received and mark job name.
- Keep work area clean and organized.
Required Experience/Skills
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and hardware templates.
- Effective communication skills.
- Self-motivated work ethic without the need for direct supervision.
- Exemplify positive attitude, safety, and professionalism.
- Dependable and responsible.
- Ability to lift at least 75 lbs.
- Familiarity with industry safety regulations (OSHA requirements).
Preferred Experience/Skills
- Technical certification in welding or metal fabrication.
- Forklift experience is a bonus.
- Relevant experience in welding and metal fabrication, preferably in the construction or Division 8 industry.
- Proficiency in MIG welding techniques.
